Why the silver rate is the same in every city

Silver in India is priced from the international spot rate, converted to rupees, plus a 15% import duty and 3% GST. Both are set nationally, so the metal costs the same in Delhi as it does in Chennai.

What changes from shop to shop is the making charge or premium, the packaging, and the price the seller will pay you back. To compare quotes, divide the price by the weight and check it against today's rate of ₹210.56 per gram.
